The Yellow Lantern Kampground was built on the former Graham Farm. Construction of Phase I started January 8th, 1972. It consisted of 50 sites, an office, a store, laundry, restroom facilities and management quarters. In April of 1973, Phase II was completed with RV sites, tent sites on the Tioughnioga River, a recreation hall, a snack bar, second laundry and restroom facilities, a swimming pool, playground and roads. That same year, 50 maple trees were planted and several pine and evergreens were transplanted to beautify the campground. The campground utilizes 40 acres of land.
1974 marked the beginning of the traditional Christmas in August which was celebrated the third weekend in August every year. The annual Christmas event was moved to the third weekend in July in 1987 under the new ownership of Vittorio and Santina Panzanella and their family. Halloween in August was introduced in the summer of 1994. This holiday is celebrated with a haunted hayride and trick or treating camper to camper. Many of the Yellow Lantern original traditions include the Candy Hunt, Scavenger Hunt and Bowling for Groceries. Many years of new and old traditions and fun for the entire family are on the horizon. Our family welcomes your family.
